We’re so excited to reveal to you the first five films from the Abertoir 2021 programme!
All five will be screening at the physical event in Aberystwyth this 2-7 November: three festival favourites, one exciting classic and one very special event. Read on for the details…
Screening at this year's Abertoir are three of the year’s big titles from the festival circuit so far: the brooding and intense tech-horror BROADCAST SIGNAL INTRUSION; epic folk horror documentary WOODLANDS DARK AND DAYS BEWITCHED; and ingenious sci-fi chamber-piece BEYOND THE INFINITE TWO MINUTES.
We’re also screening a cult classic as you’ve never seen it before – quite literally! We’re thrilled to be host to the first UK screening of Vinegar Syndrome’s stunning and long awaited restoration of FLESH FOR FRANKENSTEIN aka Andy Warhol's Frankenstein…in digital 3D! Prepare your gall bladders!
And finally, we’re thrilled to announce that we’ll be hosting a special screening of CENSOR, with Aberystwyth’s very own Prano Bailey-Bond in attendance for a post-film Q&A. It might already be out in cinemas, but it would be remiss of us not to celebrate this brilliant evocation of an era of horror we all love at Abertoir, especially when it’s made by one of Aberystwyth’s greatest exports!
We’re working hard in the lab on many more goodies still to come but we hope we’ve whet your appetite with these first programme revelations. Stay tuned - over the next weeks and months, as we’ll have news of our short film competition selection and our first revelations from the online part of the festival. You can also expect much more on our guests, our special events, more premieres and which classics we’ll be bringing to life on the big and small screen - apologies in advance, but we do like a bit of Jess Franco here in Aber! ;)
