Betty (Cristina Marsillach), the young understudy of an opera soprano, inadvertently finds herself centre stage when a random accident leaves the show’s star incapacitated. She soon finds that her new-found stardom comes at a price when a masked assailant starts killing her friends and colleagues, forcing her to look on helplessly…

Terror at the Opera is often hailed as one of Dario Argento’s last great films, and it’s truly a unique take on the giallo, boasting dazzling set-pieces and a continued exploration of the themes of spectatorship as established in his earlier works, perhaps most notably in Tenebrae. Featuring some of the genre’s most iconic images, Terror at the Opera boast all the melodrama and spectacle of any great operatic work.
