London radio DJ Steve (Craig Russell) returns to his hometown in the Valleys for New Year’s Eve as a top guest at his mates’ party. Elsewhere, secret agents are hearing reports of strange, yet familiar occurrences, following the pattern of a cold case from Vietnam years earlier. When the clocks strikes midnight in Lower Cwmtwrch, the alien invasion, rather inconveniently, begins.

Canaries is an impressively ambitious feature debut from Peter Stray, boasting filming locations across three continents, an international cast and an alien invasion. Adeptly balancing wry humour and bloody action, the film boasts a superb cast of characters (featuring many familiar Welsh faces) and is a lot of apocalyptic fun.

Writer/director Peter Stray, actor/producer Craig Russell, actor/fight director Kevin McCurdy and actors Richard Mylan, Ceri Jones and Aled Pugh will be joining us for a Q&A, in association with BAFTA Cymru, after the film.
